由於雙能量X光吸收測定儀是須要轉送至放射單位操作的,所以會有轉送病人至檢查單位的不便與壓力。而且,這個檢測方式也有累積輻射劑量的問題。故新生兒測骨質密度檢查並不適合使用雙能量X光吸收測定儀。新生寶寶的檢查應是可在病房或嬰兒室床邊操作,不須冒轉送病人的危險,且也不能有輻射的問題。近年來,醫療科技的發展,已朝向使用具有方便性、無輻射又便宜的量化超音波儀器來監測骨質情形。其原理是以測量超音波在骨頭內行走的骨聲速度(bone speed of sound, SOS)來評估骨頭的礦化含量及厚度。此技術已可用來評估足月新生兒及早產兒的骨質狀態。高雄醫學大學附設中和紀念醫院小兒科部,於多年前購入該儀器,能得知足月或早產之新生寶寶的骨質資料。所以,剛出生的新生兒是可以測骨質的。那麼新生兒有需要作骨質檢查嗎?

第二個時段的主題是『特別演講』,首先由亞東小兒心臟科葉樹人醫師講演National Database Study of Survival of Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease Patients in Taiwan,之後依序由彰基吳琬如醫師講演Recommendations on Routine Mid-Trimester Anomaly Scan,彰基謝聰哲醫師講演Fetal Brain Imaging,How Do I Do It ?,長庚張嘉獻醫師講演Screening for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip and Its Impact,和台大盧俊維醫師講演Arrhythmic Burdens in Patients with Tetralogy of Fallot: a National Database Study。
第三個時段的主題是『Ultrasound and Beyond』,由日本的川瀧元良醫師講演Prenatal Screening and STIC seminar of TAPVD,孕兒診所賴錫鉅醫師講演Ultrasound settings for CHD screening,和萬芳林怡慧醫師講演Genetic Counseling on CHD。由於全肺靜脈回流異常是非常困難的產前診斷,此番請到川瀧元良醫師傾囊相授,與會同業反應非常熱烈,大開眼界。
第四個時段則是台兒放射師的病例分享,由台兒的放射師輪流講演,共分享了12個精彩的個案,含Urinoma、Interruption of Aortic Arch、Volvulus、Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia、Hemimegalencephaly、Double Aortic Arch、Bronchopulmonary Sequestration、Alpha Thalassemia、Partial ACC and Schizencephaly、Bilateral Duplex Collecting System with Ureterocele、MCDK and Renal Hypodysplasia及Physiologic Herniation。
